Sixten's Foundation was excited to learn that one of the producers of the original "60 Minutes" segment was interested in revisiting what has since taken place with Conductive Education.
Robert Kurz, president of Sixten's Foundation, Inc. and father of the our foundation's namesake Sixten, brought "60 Minutes" up to speed on Conductive Education. "Steps for Sixten Sponsor Forms Now Available!"
For all of you interested in running (or walking!) with us on May 8 for "Steps for Sixten," the sponsorship form you will need now available. Just click here and print the form so you can go find your sponsors (black and white is OK, and it's two pages).
Remember, registration itself is through Riverfront Revolution here, but it is up to us to keep track of the individual friends, families, co-workers, loved ones, significant others and businesses with the forms here.

“Steps for Sixten” … A Clarification
Sixten’s Foundation is delighted with remarkable response we’ve received from everyone looking to support us through our “Steps for Sixten” fun run and race scheduled for May 9 at the National Harbor. We wanted to take a moment, however, to clarify some details related to the event.
Some of the initial promotional materials may have given the impression that “Steps for Sixten” was a part of the Riverfront Revolution 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run, and Health & Wellnessfest event. This is NOT accurate. “Steps for Sixten” participants will simply be participating in the planned Riverfront Revolution event at National Harbor as part of our fundraiser initiative. You are still required to register through www.RiverfrontRevolution.com, but Sixten’s Foundation and Steps for Sixten is not in any way affiliated with the Riverfront Revolution event.
So wear your Sixten’s Foundation or “Steps for Sixten” t-shirts hats and buttons if you have them, get your sponsors signed up beforehand, and we’ll see you on May 9 at the National Harbor. Remember, this is the Riverfront Revolution event, and Mr. Greg Taylor of that organization has kindly allowed us to walk or run with his Riverfront Revolution participants.

Steps for Sixten! The Run and Walk for Everyone
Support Sixten’s Foundation (www.sixten.org) on Saturday, May 9th at a 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run or Walk at the New National Harbor.
Take steps for children like Sixten who can’t take steps for themselves, and help us to raise money for this important organization. Sixten’s Foundation, Inc. is committed to providing Conductive Education programs in public schools for children with cerebral palsy and similar neuromuscular conditions. These children cannot do it on their own, and neither can we, without your help.
If you are a runner, great! If you’re not, don’t be intimidated. All levels are welcomed, and even a 1 Mile stroll (with strollers!) will help us realize our goals.

"Sparklers for Sixten" Success!
On Friday, March 27, Anna Helm Kurz (Sixten’s Mom!) hosted a Sixten’s Foundation jewelry party showcasing Lia Sophia jewelry. This special fundraising event was to raise money for Sixten's Foundation.
As many of you know, we are now facing the completion of the pilot program for Conductive Education within the Prince George’s County Public School District, and the need for continued funding is critical to our long-term success. “Sparklers for Sixten” is just one of several fundraisers we have planned in the near term. We realize the economy is tight for many of you, that is why we are committed to developing fun, interesting or healthy events. Please read the next post about “Steps for Sixten,” and start stretching those legs!
Again, we appreciate the generosity of Lia Sophia consultant Krissy Sample. We sold over $1500 worth of beautiful, quality, contemporary jewelry and Sixten's Foundation receives a percentage of each sale! Success, Dust Settling and Thanks!
The “Conduct This!” auction to benefit Sixten’s Foundation was an unequivocal musical and financial success. It appears the foundation raised approximately $40,000 towards its $67,000 goal to cover expenses for the Conductive Education program for the 2008-2009 school year.
We would like to thank the many very generous donors who graciously offered fine musical instruments, bows, strings, lessons, services and other items. It was quite overwhelming to have this level of support from the musical community -- and from people neither Anna nor I have ever met.
Secondly, we would like to thank the bidders. We realize many of you had other options where you could purchase these items, but know that 100% of your bid went to our foundation and its efforts to help children with cerebral palsy and similar conditions.
And we would like to send out an important THANK YOU to Madeleine Crouch, the executive director of the International Society of Bassists. Her enthusiastic and generous efforts helped the foundation reach these important members of the musical community and insure our first auction was a success. Thank you, Madeleine!
We also wish to apologize again for the PayPal glitch towards the end of the auction. Apparently the eBay auction was "flagged" because of the volume of bidding and the dollars involved (we think). Since this was a new account with eBay and the foundation didn't really have a history with them, they have asked us for additional information about shipment of items and some other documentation. We're still waiting for some of those overseas items to be delivered so they can lift our PayPal restriction.
