Steps for Sixten! The Run and Walk for Everyone

Support Sixten’s Foundation (www.sixten.org) on Saturday, May 9th at a 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run or Walk at the New National Harbor.

Take steps for children like Sixten who can’t take steps for themselves, and help us to raise money for this important organization. Sixten’s Foundation, Inc. is committed to providing Conductive Education programs in public schools for children with cerebral palsy and similar neuromuscular conditions. These children cannot do it on their own, and neither can we, without your help.

If you are a runner, great! If you’re not, don’t be intimidated. All levels are welcomed, and even a 1 Mile stroll (with strollers!) will help us realize our goals.

Here is what you need to know:

What: The main sponsor of the race is the Inaugural Riverfront Revolution 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run, and Health & Wellnessfest at the New National Harbor. Please register for the Inaugural Riverfront Revolution event here: http://www.riverfrontrevolution.com/register.html. The Riverfront Revolution is graciously allowing Sixten’s Foundation to share its “track” with those taking “Steps of Sixten.” You can obtain your Sixten’s Foundation pledge form at www.Sixten.org. Ask your friends, family and co-workers to sponsor you per mile, kilometer or a flat amount when you complete the race.
When: Saturday May 9th, 2009.

Start time: Registration begins at 7:00am. 10K/5K start at 8:00am, 1 Mile Run starts at 8:15am. The wellness expo, music, and farmers market will follow.

Raise $50.00 for Sixten’s Foundation, and receive a terrific “Steps for Sixten” t-shirt! (It’s cooler looking than it sounds.)

Raise $200.00 for Sixten’s Foundation and receive a Sixten’s Foundation runner’s cap. (Although after this we’ll never ask you to run again, so you can use it for any other non-running purpose you’d like.)

Raise $500.00 for Sixten’s Foundation and receive the t-shirt, runner’s cap and a remarkable, home-cooked Swedish three-course dinner at the home of Anna Helm and Robert Kurz, the founders of Sixten’s Foundation. And yes, Sixten himself will be there!

"Sparklers for Sixten" Success!

On Friday, March 27, Anna Helm Kurz (Sixten’s Mom!) hosted a Sixten’s Foundation jewelry party showcasing Lia Sophia jewelry. This special fundraising event was to raise money for Sixten's Foundation.

As many of you know, we are now facing the completion of the pilot program for Conductive Education within the Prince George’s County Public School District, and the need for continued funding is critical to our long-term success. “Sparklers for Sixten” is just one of several fundraisers we have planned in the near term. We realize the economy is tight for many of you, that is why we are committed to developing fun, interesting or healthy events. Please read the next post about “Steps for Sixten,” and start stretching those legs!

We sold over $1500 worth of beautiful, quality, contemporary jewelry and Sixten's Foundation receives a percentage of each sale!
